Year-End Message from Executive Director, Seth Mullendore
As we near the end of 2022, Clean Energy Group would like to thank our many partners, collaborators, and supporters for another impactful year. This has been a year of promising developments, with fossil gas plants in the Northeast beginning to transition to battery storage and redevelopment as renewable energy hubs; states and local governments advancing clean energy policies that will catalyze more equitable development of solar, offshore wind, and energy storage; and, of course, the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). At the same time, new battle fronts are emerging in the fight to ensure that the clean energy transition will result in equitable outcomes, such as state and federal support for false solutions like hydrogen combustion and carbon capture that will continue to subject environmental justice communities to harmful pollutants. Clean Energy Group is honored to have had the opportunity to work in collaboration with so many amazing organizations this year, and we are looking forward to continuing this work and forging new partnerships in the New Year.
2022 was a banner year for Clean Energy Groups small-grant programs, the Technical Assistance Fund (TAF) and Resilient Power Leadership Initiative (RPLI). Through these programs, CEG provided one-on-one technical support and awarded $200,000 to 23 community-based organizations and service providers across 9 states and Washington, D.C. Over 40% of funds were awarded to BIPOC-led (Black, Indigenous, and people of color) organizations, receiving $92,000 in funding.
To read more about this years TAF and RPLI recipients, read CEG's blog, 2022 Year-in-Review: Technical Assistance Fund and Resilient Power Leadership Initiative. A comprehensive report will be released in the new year.
